Services

Mission

To provide servies and assistance to help residents of Tangipahoa Parish age 60 and older remain independent and in their own homes as long as possible.
 
 Services

Senior Centers

Hot, well-balanced meals served Monday through Friday at five Senior Centers located in Kentwood, Amite, Independence, Hammond and Ponchatoula.
Activities are offered such as exercise, art and computer classes, music, Bingo and other games, information and assistance, telephoning and socialization.

Transportation

Service provided to the general public Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. within Tangipahoa Parish.
-24 hour advance notice required, first come, first served as space available.
-Schedueling and Dispatching: 985-748-6016
-Fare is $9 per one way trip for anyone under 60 years of age.
Hammond and Ponchatoula City Bus routes are currently operating in one-hour loops within city limits connecting  at Northoaks Hospital
-Fare for city bus routs is 50 cents upon boarding

 Tangipahoa Public Trnsportation puede proveer comunicacion para las personas que su ingles es limitado, para asegurarles la misma oportunidad de beneficiarse de los servicios.

Home Delivered Meals
Five frozen meals delivered to the homebound one day per week with bread, milk, dessert, and fruit.

Other Services include Homemaker (Light Housekeeping) Caregiver Support, Utility Assistance and Medical Alert Systems.

There is no charge for the services to residents of Tangipahoa Parish age 60 and older; however donations are encouraged. Some suggested donations include $1/meal; $5/trip and $5/homemaker visit.

Services will not be refused for inability to donate.

Activities and services of the TVCOA are open to senior citizens of Tangipahoa Parish without regard to race, color, religion or national origin. There is no distinction in the treatment of recipients and rules of courtesy are applied uniformly to all.

Grievances of discrimination or complaints of unfair treatment may be filed in writing to the executive director at 106 North Bay St., Amite, LA 70422.
